Sports

  1. The area's NHL team, the Buffalo Sabres, has been one of the most winning teams in the NHL since its inception in 1970. (Source: NHL) The team has been in the Eastern Conference Finals three times in the past ten years—since Lindy Ruff began coaching the team.
  2. Buffalonians are passionate about their sports teams. Choices abound, with Buffalo being the home of the Bills (NFL), Sabres (NHL), Bisons (triple-A baseball), and the Bandits (NLL).

  4. Professional sports are not the only game in town! College sports teams also abound, including NCAA Division I football at the University at Buffalo.   5. Buffalo also has plenty of opportunities for non-professional athletes to try their luck, whether it's skiing at some of the best resorts in the East, playing softball in one of hundreds of recreational leagues, or sailing on Lake Erie, there's something for everyone!
