Synacor Announces Partnership with Turner Sports
NASCAR.COM to be offered to consumers through online service providers
February 14th 2008
(Buffalo, NY) February 14, 2008 – Synacor today announced a partnership with Turner Sports, a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., to offer NASCAR.COM content through select online service provider customers.
The NASCAR.COM content features NASCAR.COM TrackPass coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Series, and Craftsman Truck Series and is offered as a premium service as part of subscription packages on Synacor affiliates Grande Communications and Midcontinent Communications.
Synacor negotiated and secured these subscriber services with Turner Sports so that its Internet and cable service provider partners can deliver access to this content right on their customers’ personalized homepages. Customers will not need to log in to each of the individual websites that typically serve as access pages for this content.
NASCAR.COM TrackPass provides users with a video gaming-meets-live racing experience. It allows subscribers to enjoy a multi-dimensional viewing experience and permits them to select which NASCAR driver they want to listen to, follow and watch. Users can select one driver, or switch among a full field of drivers, and then follow them around the track during races, pit stops, cautions and lead changes while also viewing data such as live position, speed and time behind the leader. The product displays three virtual camera angle selections — Lead View, Flyover and Draft View, and provides Track Pit stats and times.
“We believe Turner Sports’ NASCAR.COM is an excellent addition for our service providers,” said Theodore May, Synacor vice president of content and value added services. “Superior entertainment programming from NASCAR.COM offers our partners’ premium customers outstanding branded content coupled with great value. And the timing of this offering is ideal with the 50th running of the historic Daytona 500 on February 17th.”
“Our partnership with Synacor ensures that even more NASCAR fans have access to NASCAR.COM’s TrackPass, which offers an innovative way for fans to follow their favorite drivers and see every moment of exciting racing action,” said Lenny Daniels, senior vice president of new media and production, Turner Sports.
Subscribers will have access to the Turner content through a white-label online portal developed and managed by Synacor for service providers. This portal provides users a seamlessly integrated experience right on the homepage, and allows them to enjoy exclusive content without ever leaving their primary Web site.
