SYNACOR AND KNOLOGY PARTNER TO DELIVER PREMIUM CONTENT PACKAGES TO HIGH-SPEED INTERNET USERS

August 3rd 2004

BUFFALO, NY and WEST POINT, GA – Synacor, the leading provider of technology supporting the delivery of bundled online services, and Knology are partnering to offer premium content packages. Knology’s broadband subscribers will be offered two premium tiers (My Broadband and My Broadband+) that feature an array of entertainment, sports, family and educational services to augment their existing broadband products.

Basic, entertainment, family and ultra packages range from $9.95 to $19.95 for a host of services that includes NASCAR.COM’s TrackPass with PitCommand, MusicNow Radio, MusicNow Full Access with downloadable music, Clever Island, Encyclopaedia Britannica, AmericanGreeting.com, Shockwave.com GameBlast, and Anti-Virus & Parental Controls from Zero-Knowledge Systems. The packages offer a great value proposition for Knology customers.

“My Broadband allows our customers to take full advantage of their broadband connection, and provides substantial discounts on the premium content offered,” stated Lynn Hall, Director, Product Management, Knology, Inc. “If purchased separately, the total package is valued at $45.00 to $60.00 per month.”

Knology customers also will enjoy additional benefits with their subscription. “These products all come with added features making them even more valuable to the customers,” continued Hall. “For example, through NASCAR.COM’s PitCommand, customers can ‘patch in’ to the in-car and pit conversations of their favorite drivers. With MusicNow Full Access, music fans can download or stream their favorite tracks from a catalogue of over 500,000 titles.”

Hall also stressed the convenience of “one password, one username” for all the content. “If purchased separately, users would need to have a password and username for each service. With My Broadband, they only need to use (and remember) one.”

Knology will use Synacor’s platform, Portelus, to supply the content, authentication, provisioning and unified login for Knology subscribers.

“Knology recognizes the value of premium services in their effort to deliver a great broadband experience,” said Ron Frankel, President and CEO, Synacor. “We are excited to partner with Knology in their approach to the marketplace for broadband services.”
