Bluelight.com Strengthens $8.95 Internet Service With Additional Free Premium Options Provided By Synacor

BlueLight Increases Mailbox Storage and Offers POP Access at No Charge to Customers of Lowest-Price Major ISP in America

April 30th 2002

SAN FRANCISCO & BUFFALO, N.Y. (April 30, 2002) – Synacor Inc., a provider of premium services for Internet access providers, and BlueLight.com, operator of the nation’s lowest-price major ISP, today announced an agreement that provides BlueLight Unlimited Internet Service customers with POP mail service and increased e-mail storage at no charge. This announcement comes only four months after BlueLight.com incorporated Synacor’s portal and Web-based e-mail solutions into its $8.95 per month unlimited-use ISP.

BlueLight.com will now provide its ISP customers with additional storage space – a total of 10mb per user – free of charge. The expanded service agreement with Synacor also provides BlueLight customers with the option to utilize POP mail when accessing their personal e-mail accounts. POP e-mail allows users the flexibility to easily download mail to their computer via a desktop client such as Microsoft Outlook or Eudora. BlueLight users will automatically be upgraded with increased storage and will be able to instantly obtain POP e-mail access through a simple Web-based form. BlueLight’s newly enhanced service comes at a time when many of the largest ISPs and e-mail providers have reduced their offering by eliminating POP e-mail access and charging their customers for increased e-mail storage space.

“Synacor’s flexible solutions and provisioning platform enable us to offer a range of additional services to our customers,” said Heidi Gibson, general manager of the BlueLight Unlimited Internet Service. “We quickly responded to customer feedback and requests by delivering additional storage and POP e-mail while others in the industry were cutting these back.”

Synacor’s robust value-added services enable BlueLight to provide a superior Internet service, remain competitive with other top ISPs and ensure customer satisfaction. Through Synacor’s hosted solutions, BlueLight delivers a content-rich portal with Kmart promotions, sales and special offers, and a feature-rich messaging solution with Web mail, storage and POP access – completely free of banner ads.

“BlueLight is an exceptional partner with a strong desire to meet customer needs,” said Ron Frankel, president and CEO of Synacor. “We are excited to work with BlueLight to deliver premium services that build loyalty, increase customer satisfaction and help grow the existing subscriber base.”

According to ISP-Planet, BlueLight.com is one of the nation’s 25 largest Internet service providers and one of the nation’s top-11 dial-up ISPs.
